Aquaculture Train-the-Trainer Workshop, 12-13 October 2009, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia The objective of this workshop is to present the structure and documentation for a successful cooperation and implementation of the GLOBALGAP Framework for the scope Aquaculture with the sub-scope Shrimp. Ph.D. course “Physical and biochemical methods for analysis of fish as food”, 16-20 November 2009, Kgs. Lyngby (Denmark) The aim of the course is to provide insight into the state of the art of advanced laboratory techniques and methods that are recommended for analysis of fish muscle components relevant in studies of ante mortem (e.g. feed, stress) effects on fish as well as for following post mortem changes in fish. Online registration for the World Fishing Exhibition and AQA 2009 has now opened Online visitor registration for the World Fishing Exhibition and AQA 2009 (Aqua Farming International) Exhibition is now open! Online registration will remain open until the 11 September 2009. Research has underpinned the significant development of aquaculture over the last three decades and Europe has been a leader. As aquaculture continues to develop, research will undergo fundamental change. Aquaculture Europe 2009 will address this challenge and will provide an international forum to discuss latest research initiatives and new research frontiers. The plenary speakers have now been announced and at present, the conference has received more than 350 abstracts from 42 countries and attendance is expected to be around 500.
ICES Publication Group is happy to announce the publication of two new Cooperative Research Reports; “Hake age estimation: state of the art and progress towards a solution” and “Manual of recommended practices for modelling physical–biological interactions during fish early life”.
This international scientific prize of €25,000 will be awarded by the Flanders Marine Institute, Belgium, to a researcher or a research team to reward an original scientific study on the marine environment within the context of potential medical applications. The prize has been established in honour of Dr. Edouard Delcroix (1891-1973), Beligan orthopaedic surgeon and pioneer in thalassotherapy.

is an EU FP7 research infrastructure initiative comprising a network of
marine research stations. Access is provided to a comprehensive set of
coastal marine ecosystems, to research vessels, state-of-the-art
experimental facilities and to a wide variety of marine organisms;
either on-site or by shipment. First call for applications is now open.
